WELL DONE, BRIGHTON-GALA SWIMMERS A super result for the club at last weekend’s Brighton Development Gala, with the headline being that we won, there were some great performances and lots of big personal-best improvements.
The story behind the headline is the way the swimmers have worked diligently since the club champs, when a lot of the old PBs were set, to make impressive improvements in their technique and race skills.
Your correspondent has attended this gala since the club started taking part, in which time we’ve come last, fourth, second and now first. I had to brush away a manly tear at the end.
GOOD LUCK AT THE COUNTIES Cormorants is sending an impressive number of swimmers to the Sussex County Championships this year: if you’re going up this weekend, good luck. The whole club – especially the swimmers you train with, as well as your coaches and everyone else – is behind you.
SWIM SQUAD, WHERE WERE YOU? The new Gold squad had an excellent first Wednesday-night session 18.00-19.00 two days ago – partly because they got to use all four lanes and had loads of space. The Swim Squad should have been there too, using two of the lanes, but none of them turned up. This must be a miscommunication about times: training times are on the club’s website, click here
