Friday Newsletter, 11 January

WELL DONE, SPLASHERS Some great swims at the Splash Into 2019 meet last weekend. Newsletter was there in the morning, and greatly enjoyed the racing. The club had a big presence poolside and some of the heats were stacked with Cormorants. Several swimmers hit county-championship qualifying marks and a few more were agonizingly close. At the other end of the spectrum, it was also great to see a bunch of swimmers having good swims right at the start of their competitive careers.

WELL DONE, LISA Lisa Thomas completed her training last week and is now fully qualified as a level 1 Judge. A swimming judge, not a legal one, but this is better anyway as you don’t have to wear the stupid wig. Really well done to Lisa.

DATES FOR YOUR DIARY
20 January: Annual Presentation Evening
24 January: Club Annual General Meeting
27 January: County Relay Galas
9/10 and 23/24 February: County Championships
13 October, 10 November and 15 December: NASL gala dates, please be aware of these, as they are big galas for the club and we want to select the strongest possible teams.

BEACH LIFEGUARDING TASTER The RNLI is running a taster session for aspiring beach lifeguards. It’s at Arun Leisure Centre from 16.00–18.00 on Sunday 20 January, so hopefully there will be time to go along before our presentation evening, if you’re interested. It’s a chance to try some lifeguarding activities, meet people from the RNLI team and – if you’re interested – put your name forward to train as a beach lifeguard later this year. It’s OK just to attend, but if you’d like to contact the RNLI ahead of time, email [email protected]
